Build links from .edu forums
This is the ninth post in The Link Building Cookbook series that shows you the best techniques to build links to your websites and blogs.
While there are hundreds of forums running on .edu domains, few allow anyone to register and post comments threads with links to your websites. Listed below are four university forums that allow you to register and get free links to your website. To many, this sounds like a huge waste of time as all of the new posts will be PR0, but over time it will certainly be beneficial. I recommend spending 1-2 hours building links from these forums when you have some free time.

Though I think edu links are overrated I might spend some time on these.
Pretty good idea….are the backlinks dofollow in these forums?
[...] Part 9 – Build links from .edu forums [...]
Great tips once again. Thanks,
Matt
This seems like a dishonest way of increasing your PageRank and generate traffic. However, I am glad things like this are discussed out in the open for the people who manage can do the appropriate filtering mechanisms. Thanks for the heads up
My research group at MIT created and maintains the *removed* website that is listed in this post. The Scratch site is intended to help children and teens develop as creative thinkers. I find it deeply disturbing and unethical that you are encouraging people to insert irrelevant links into our discussion forums. Please delete the URL of the *removed* forums from your post.
Thanks for removing our website!
i think some site owners have already removed shout boxes and what not because of posts like this. but it would be a dang shame to see this tut disappear.

i can’t register myself in the above website…plz help me !!!!
I know your website from DP. Thanks for sharing with us!
[...] – Looks like a continuation but with more forums here. If you have not read my post about building links from .edu forums, then that goes well with this forum link building theme [...]
http://learn.aero.und.edu/foru.....mID=130439 is full of spam. I don’t think is good to post there.
this doesn’t seems like a good way to add our link
Anyway, can someone send me some great tip in promoting my freelancer network?
I am giving out something free, but it seems like i need more strategies in link building to compete with those paid freelancer network
I dont even charge them
Sry, forgot my site link

PLz share your link building tips if you know some
http://forum.adison.edu is hacked and defunct?
Seems like it, bummer.
I believe that .edu links do in fact increase your rankings in the search engines. However, they are very hard to acquire. The end result however, I believe would be worth it.
Those sites unfortunately no longer work.
When my daughter starts college at UC Berkeley, I’m going to TRY to convince her to start a web site or blog (about weddings, of course!). Her page will have 5 links out, and MINE will be one of them…..Muahahhaahaha (Dr Evil laugh).
Hi, please share some of your link building techniques. I would appreciate it.
Do you have any other or know of any other .edu or .gov forums to post on? Where did you find that original list btw? I don’t think they work anymore.
I saw the EDU forum, and did post there. But my post was not a spam type of comment. They were asking about consumer finance, and today’s financial situation. My page rank fell from pr4 to pr3 after the next index!!
Tom
Just because your PR rank went down does not mean that it was the result of posting the forums of an .edu site. Ranking can go down for many reasons and it can take a long time for new links to start counting towards your rank.
I would love a list of other .gov or .edu sites I could post on.

WOW gold guide site – Review site.
Great information and good idea thanks for sharing with us I really appreciate.
Collin, I spoke to my daughter’s new bf at UC Berkeley, and it seems there is a very ethical way to establish legit links from EDU sites: START A CLUB.
for example, a college student could start an “Internet Marketing Club”, which of course encompasses SEO and Link Building as part of its blog, which would be hosted on the .edu domain of that college.
Collin, when are YOU going to start a club at your school?
Today I discovered that my daughter’s college hosts an Energy Resources Blog.
It just so happens that I’m very interested in Solar Photovoltaic roof panels and Solar hot water for my home.
We also have 3 sunny acres where Prototypes could be installed, free of charge (we would get the electricity, of course….LOL).
Having a daughter in college = PRICELESS
It’s so amazing! thank you very much!
very nice info, thanks buddy
Wow , I’m amazed at how fussy these people get with dropping links on forums.
It’s not like people are bombing you , just making a post or two , putting a link in and leaving…Very little harm in that.
That is a good idea.
This may indeed be a great way to improve seo with quality links like .edu. Do take heed of the spamming warning though. If you spam you’ll lose the link opportunity. Always try a find a topic you are interested in and can offer something useful about.
I did that before, and it worked.
humm its mean .edu links are more beneficial,i will now remember this thing.thanks for this information.
Great info i was unaware that .edu links get such more pull.. thx, anyone know a .gov with a do follow ?
Thanks for the information on the forums! Do you think links from student webpages are also valuable?
great idea to link page rank 5-6-7 links. There are some systems but google sometimes can understand they are spam.
Great information! Thanks for the help! I will start my research and further my link building.
I am interested to know how links from .edu sites will affect alexa ranking?
Thanks for your nice idea.
Can anyone give the list of all .edu sites where we can post our web site links?
Yes these strategies do work the .edu ones
aren’t a lot of these EDU forums very spammy now because of this thus making the links worthless and possibly detrimental?
thanks for the great idea, i want a list of those forums with anyone can help me
I try to explore option where you don’t post but just register.
If the registration information is public then you can easily get the edu link
I don’t see any list of EDU forums… Some marketers affirm that links from such a forums are beneficial for the PR of your site. Good idea (Danny) just to sign up, for getting the backlink.
Tell me what you're thinking...
