Pagerank Update

Looks like Google got around to updating their pagerank again, and my blog’s pagerank has increased from a 4 to a 5 which is pretty cool considering the gap from getting a 4 to a 5 is a heck of a lot larger than having a pagerank of 2 and moving it up to a 3.

I knew my link building campaigns would help my pagerank, but considering my blog isn’t even 6 months old yet I didn’t expect to get a PR5 so soon.

  2. Thanks for the tips, very helpful. Going to read your link building article because I didn’t increase rank :( .

  4. Hi,

I also got a PR4 for one of my site and I am happy with it as it is just a 2 months old site….I am very much thankful for your cookbook series as it helped me a lot :)

  6. It’s always good to increase PageRank and I have a MMO blog that reached a PR4 this time around which excited me as it has been a PR3 for a number of years now.

A strange thing though are the two sites I received PR4s for that have never had any content or backlinks. It’s the strangest thing. I never got around to putting content.

It kind of makes me think that the update is not over and some who have seen an increase in PR or a decrease may see that change again in the next few days.

  8. Collin – congrats on your new PR rank – that’s great! I’ve just very recently found your blog, so I’m going to be looking forward to reading your previous posts, especially the ‘cookbook series’ I saw Sudarshan mention above.

  17. I just joined Mixx and I will be utilizing it for sure.

Also, congrats on the pr5! It is nice to not be expecting it, and getting it. I got a PR 4 on one of my niche blogs, and I am way excited. I didnt’ do as well as hoped for Link Building Bible, but it is only 6 weeks old, so who knows.

  19. I’m not sure that I truly understand how the PR system works just yet. One site that I have done no promotion on went from PR0 to PR2, another went from PR0 to PR1, and the ones that I promoted heavily with the most relevant backlinks never changed.

Congrats to you on the PR5, it’s not an easy task and it’s great to see that your efforts are paying off.

  21. I’m happy with this pagerank update. It seems to have been a lot less stricter than in previous updates, nonetheless. My sites (bar one, which has been down for the last month or so) gained in PR. Including my bid directory, which has now climbed back to PR6 after being pitched down to PR2 for the last 2 updates, even though it was PR6 before January ’08. Feel free to bid for your listing, most internal categories are PR4 and PR5, pass on the love juices :)

    Cheers

  23. This one was a funny one. All my mass produced bans sites got PR5 and all my decent startups I worked on never went past PR3 :S

  25. I just got a PR3 after 3 months old blog. In the last days Google played with the PR (it was 0, then 3, then again 0) and I thought something bad happened…now PR3 is stable (and some PR 2 throughout the site)…

    Hopefully soon I’ll reach PR5 too :) …after releasing the widget I’m planning…

  27. Yeah, the page rank update was positive for a lot of people. Congrats on yours! A couple of my sites went up in rank but my new blog got PR0… maybe because it is just about a month old… I hope the next one has better results :)

  29. Congrats Collin. We’re still hoping for the PR7 site you offered earlier to approve our comments. The Blurtit postings really paid off. Lets hope this comment gets approved also ;-) .
Lets talk soon where we left off.

you are right…stop wondering “why” for the new PR

  45. Pagerank on all of my sites has increased, but I’m not happy with results.

I’m reading your link building cookbook at the moment and I hope I’ll learn something new and get few PR4 and PR5 sites at the next update.

  46. Stefanie on Fri, 2nd May 2008 4:10 pm
  47. Congratulations on the newfound PR. I managed to come out of this one pretty well (a stark difference from a few months back when a few of my sites were Google-slapped for some unknown reason).

  48. Chetan on Fri, 2nd May 2008 8:40 pm
  49. Good decision, buying links not only wastes money but also Google is lately being very strict, why to take a risk and get penalized!

  51. now it’s back to 5… owh.. i’m so confused… maybe my ffox cache problem…

  53. Which is even more strange. Google was de-indexing these at one point.

  55. To be honest all it takes is a high PR backlink. You can buy one and you won’t have to wait. Obviously there might be implications though…

  59. You are lucky. Getting a pagerank 5 is not so easy. Hope you write again when you get a PR6 ;)

  61. Congrats on the PR5. I guess its only going to get harder because the jump from PR 5 to a 6 is even harder than from a 4 to a 5

  63. I can’t believe my website that is only 3 months old and a PR of 0 jumped up to a PR of 4…

I thought it was a glitch or something. Looks as if it’s there to stay!

I did only a few exchanges with HIGH PR 5 and 6 blogs and it worked out nicely.

  65. It doesn’t take long to hit PR4 if you do everything right. My personal blog hit PR4 in three months. Three months later it was at a PR5. I suspect it might take longer than three months to get to PR6, but there’s really no trick. If you are in a tight niche like I am in then you’ll get back links as more and more people learn about what you are doing and read you. It is easier, I’ll say, for a blog rather than a static website, though. With a static site you have to do some active link building whereas with a blog the link building kind of takes care of itself.

  67. I’m still waiting for my PR to increase.

According to SEOcompany (www.seocompany.ca), Page Rank has not been updated since February 26.

All the “Page Rank Prediction” tools say that my site should be a “5″ by now…..so I’m hoping for a TBPR Update real soon!
