Online Income Report – April 2008

May 1, 2008 by Collin LaHay

Every month I make a public blog post about my online earnings for that month. These income posts are never meant to be for bragging purposes. The true purpose of them is so that I can be completely transparent about what I make online, and so that years down the road I can show everyone my journey to wealth. Being completely transparent about what I earn online also allows me to show you my biggest mistakes, and what I have learned from the most. The more mistakes I have, the more I learn from, and the more I show you how to avoid. My monthly online income reports are a summary of where I made my money, and where I lost my money.

Blog Statistics
Numbers in parenthesis are stats from last month to show improvements or declines.

  1. Google Pagerank 5 (2-4 because of a penalty)
  2. Seomoz PageStrength 4 (3.5)
  3. Alexa Rank 135,608 (53,549, the Alexa ranking system changed incredibly)
  4. Technorati Rank 10,433 (10,523 – it received a penalty or a hand edit because it was under 10k a long time ago and it has only grown since)
  5. Technorati Authority 493 (423)
  6. Total Visitors 6,794 (5,746)
  7. Total Pageviews 14,519 (13,543)
  8. RSS Subscribers 542 (460)

Advertising

  • Adsense $37.79 ($44.78)
  • Adtoll – Removed
  • Kontera – $7.38 (I have now removed it)
  • Paid Reviews – $40 ($80, I had two but one $40 review was free)
  • 125×125 Ads – $60 ($90)

Affiliate Marketing

  1. NeverBlue Ads – $77 myself, $21.75 through my affiliates. (Sign up for Neverblue Ads)
  2. Market Leverage – $5.25 (I have only done one offer so far, still trying to find time to expand).

Consulting Clients

  • Link Building & Viral Marketing – $2400

Other Sales

My Ventures

I have one site that has been coded already, but I am just waiting for the designer to finish and then I will launch it publicly on my blog. Stay Tuned!

Monthly Expenses

  1. Google Adwords – $43.61 + $5 signup cost
  2. MSN Adcenter – $0.30 + $5 signup cost (although I have $75 of free spending money now)

Total April Online Revenue – $2749.17

Total April Online Profit – $2695.26

Profit per day – $89.84

Conclusion

April was another very solid month for earnings, and a solid growth for the blog. I reached a pagerank 5 already, which was months ahead of my prediction as well. I have started getting my feet wet with affiliate marketing, and I will enjoy doing that and will continue to spend a lot of time learning it in May. I have referred 19 affiliates to neverblue ads, one of whom is making $200-500/day with it, netting me a nice amount of money through the 2% referral system. Congrats to whoever is utilizing neverblue ads from my post! The only thing that really went down this month was my technorati rank, but considering my technorati authority went up a ton I have to believe it was a manual edit because it happened hours after my post about how much technorati sucks… so I am not too worried about them. My future goals for a few months from now are to be making $100/day profit, and I believe I should be there in a couple of months easy.

How well did you do this month?

  2. Mo money! That sucks about the technorati rank, but if you think they suck then you prolly aren’t sweatin about the manual edit penalty.

Also, congrats on making ~ $90/day…. thats awesome for someone still not graduated from high school… you’re way ahead of me, by about 89/day. =)

  4. It’s great to see the diversification that you have in your online money making portfolio. I hadn’t known about a couple of the things that you are doing and will definitely be exploring more of a diversed portfolio like yourself.

    Keep up the great work!

  6. Very impressive stats for such a young guy. Again, it proves age means nothing in this world;) Good luck, and let the fortunes roll…

  10. How do you determine the price of your consultations? At least when you have first started. I keep on getting various offers myself and I simply don’t know how much to charge them.

  12. Congrats!! Never tried Affliate marketing and I don’t even know if they are good for my blog…but who knows…

  14. Congrats on your earnings this month! I am looking forward to how you will do next month. I noticed that you don’t make much with adsense… do you use it on any other sites?

  16. $2600 per month of online income – that’s amazing. I can’t even get $10 on Adsense per month. I guess one of the things I need to do is to get a high PR blog and sell links..right?

  17. Collin LaHay on Fri, 2nd May 2008 12:17 pm
  18. Depends on the client, what type of work they need done, how many hours every month, their endgame goals, how competitive their market is, what kind of timeframe im looking at, etc.

  20. I sold all of my “made for adsense sites” other than my first site I ever created, which earns about $20/m of that adsense total. The site is http://websiteredirect.com

  22. Unlike what the so-called professionals want you to think, I would suggest never selling links because that will permanently hurt you in the long run.

Focus on good content, building links, and get the long term search engine traffic.

  24. Those are solid stats. Alexa rankings are currently being updated to a “new” system. We will see how that pans out. Good Job.

  26. I have earned only $150 in April. Are you full-time internet marketer?

  27. Chetan on Fri, 2nd May 2008 1:00 pm
  28. Alexa changed drastically, as only the toolbar visitors are not taken into consideration :)

    Btw great earnings there!

  29. Collin LaHay on Fri, 2nd May 2008 1:04 pm
  30. Yes and no. I am “full time” in the sense that I make 100% of my income online, but I do not spend anywhere near 40-50 hours a week doing it.

  31. Haku on Fri, 2nd May 2008 1:14 pm
  32. You have some very nice stats their. I haven’t gotten anywhere close to your stats. Which ad service does the 125×125 Ads that you mentioned?

  34. I sell my own at the moment… thus why they are so cheap.

  35. Stefanie on Fri, 2nd May 2008 4:08 pm
  36. Very nice! I got very lucky this month with a single 5-figure consulting job that took just 3 weeks to finish (cheaply outsourced portions of the job or it would have taken 2-3 months), plus all the regular income from my day job and personal sites. In all, a very happy month. I think I may actually take a vacation this month.

  38. did you try using OIO Publisher plugin for managing ad sales?

  39. Collin LaHay on Sat, 3rd May 2008 12:26 am
  40. Yeah when I have my new prices up I am going to be using OIO.

  41. Prem on Sat, 3rd May 2008 8:26 am
  42. Wow….outstanding figures there. I think everyone will take this as an inspiration that it is definitely possible to make money online.
Just curious to know how did Link building and Viral marketing earn you $2400….?

  43. Blalock on Sat, 3rd May 2008 9:17 am
  44. Link Building & Viral Marketing – $2400! Wow! Can you elaborate on that a bit more? You have great monthly earnings. I love the layout of this site. It seems like all the bigger make money online sites are way too crowded.

  45. Collin LaHay on Sat, 3rd May 2008 1:11 pm
  46. I do viral marketing and link building for internet startup companies. I bring them heaps of short term traffic (viral marketing), and build lots of links to give them pagerank and so their pages rank well in the search engines for long term laser targetted traffic.

While due to non disclosure agreements, I cannot get into a lot of detail, I can tell you that I do a lot of viral marketing and link building work for a startup called Datepad.com, which I recommend you take a look at. It is doing very well for being so new (it only started in March), and it is only growing at a faster pace every day.

  54. Congratulation! google have updated my PR from 0 to 4. and I have removed kontera too from my blog, because the ctr is very low, I heard that many bloggers failed using kontera and decided to removed from their blog. How about with neverblueads?is it hard to join them?

  60. Your breakup seems to suggest that most of your earnings is from link building. Is this a seperate activity you do for your clients? If yes, I’m curious as to why you are clubbing that as part of your blog income? Are your customer leads generated from this blog?

  62. I’ve never heard of Neverblue Ads but I might check them out. Do any readers here know of any Ad networks that allow ads on proxified pages? I know Adbrite does, so if you know of any other companies plz let me know!
