Top 5 Affiliate Mistakes I’ve Made Which You Can Avoid
These are the top 5 mistakes that I have made that you should read about so you can avoid them yourself. This post is my entry for Uber Affiliate Paul Bourque’s blog contest. Paul is getting a lot of entries for this topic so that he may post a large list of mistakes that his readers have made so that we may all hopefully learn something to avoid making the same mistakes. Here is my personal top 5 affiliate marketing mistakes.
I am a Top Affiliate Contestant
Less than four hours after posting my plea for getting into the final 12 to be on the Top Affiliate Challenge, Thor Schrock (Owner of the Top Affiliate Challenge) messaged me on Google Talk asking if I had any plans from June 28th through July 15th. My fingers froze hovering above the keys. Normally I would have responded with something cheesy, such as, “Sorry Thor, but I will actually be in Lincoln, Nebraska during that time.” However I was so excited for what he was going to say next that I responded with a mere, “Nothing that I can’t make time for.” It was then that Thor said what I was waiting to hear; Thor responded, “Congratulations then. You are on the show.”
Top Affiliate Challenge Update
I would like to start off by thanking everyone for voting for my Top Affiliate Challenge Audition. The voting has now officially closed, and the top 10 contestants with the most votes are guaranteed a spot on the show. I came in the top 25%, which means the judges get to pick two people from this category to also be included on the show. I had to write a pitch to why they should pick me, and it had to be under 250 words. Here is the final draft that I submitted:

Top Affiliate Challenge Audition
Hello everyone, early last month I auditioned for the Top Affiliate Challenge, an upcoming internet reality television show. The show is where affiliate marketers compete to sell products in the Lincoln, Nebraska area. Since I am looking to expand my affiliate marketing knowledge, I created an audition video. The quality of the video isn’t that great, but since the public voting for the contestants ends in 48 hours, that is all I have to go with right now. I am around the top 25% of contestants to be chosen from, so I need your help to move up.
Make Money With Social Bookmarking
Many months ago the internet was swept by a web2.0 startup called del.icio.us. Delicious introduced an easier way to save your bookmarks and share them with your friends. Rather than having hundreds of bookmarks in ten folders on your browser, you can save them all online and use a search feature (tags) to find them again. I could save all of my favorite Apple/Microsoft blog posts and tag them “apple” to easily find them days, weeks, or even years later.
