Link Building with Podcasts

As many of you have probably noticed by now, there is a “listen now” button under the titles of each of my posts (unless you are reading this from your RSS reader or your inbox). This is a free service by Odiogo.com that grabs the text from your RSS feed and turns every post of yours into a robot-generated podcast so that you can listen to your favorite blogs (this one?) at work or whenever you bring your iPod/music player. While I have no objections to people listening to my blog posts on their iPods, this little widget was installed on my blog to do a little bit more than just turn my blog into a podcast.

The reason I have installed the Odiogo plugin and added a podcast version of my blog is so that I could submit it to a ton of high pagerank authority podcast directories. Podcast directories are just like web directories that link to sites in different niches, but the podcast directories are almost all hand-approved and therefor have far less links on their sites.

What this means for us link builders is that these sites send a lot more authority backlinks than your standard web directory. To make matters even better, I have enclosed a list of sites (credits go to masternewmedia.org) and have pasted the direct-url to the submission pages (or as close as you could get). So sign up with Odiogo, install the plugin and setup a podcast feed, and start building 70 new powerful links to your blog or website.

  44. This looks like an awesome idea, but I’m questioning why you have removed the “Listen Now” buttons on these blog posts, and I cannot find your podcasts in any of these directories ???

  45. Collin LaHay on Mon, 20th Jul 2009 10:47 am
  46. Odiogo was really slow for like a week and it was causing my blog not to load for an extra 10 seconds, which is an unacceptable amount of delay and was annoying a lot of people, so I deactivated the plugin until they figure out what they are doing with their hosting problems.
