BlogBlazers Review

A little over a month ago blogger Stephane Grenier sent me a review copy of his newest book titled “Blog Blazers: 40 Top Bloggers Share Their Secrets.” In return for the review copy, I gladly accepted to write a honest review to all of you.

The book is extremely simple in theory. It consists of Stephane asking a little over 20 questions to 40 different bloggers who write about many different topics. There are a lot of big names interviewed in the book, including Aaron Wall, Seth Godin, Neil Patel, and many more.

The book isn’t something that you sit down and read in its entirety, however it is something that I like to open every once in a while and read one interview at a time, which is why this review has taken me a month to write.

The biggest piece of useful information that I found from the book were researching the “recommended blogs” that the 40 different bloggers read on a daily basis. While many of them threw out the massively popular blogs that everyone knows about, every here and there you would hear about one that isn’t as mainstream.

I thought the book was pretty interesting… however I strongly believe it would have made a stronger link-bait post if it was one large promoted blog post, or even 40 smaller interviews on a site (maybe even a free ebook to promote Stephane’s own blog). I do not think this book needed to be in actual print, however it is supposed to add a little more authority to those that are in the book to be published in an actual book, which it may just do. The author specifically stated that he did not want this to just be another blog post or ebook about “how to blog,” and I agree the interviews are sometimes more helpful than a how-to guide, however I still think it would be stronger and more viral in digital text rather than as a print book.

Would I recommend it? Well, if you are just getting into starting your first blog, I would say an immediate yes. If you are a beginner blogger looking to expand your blog, I would say maybe. While $16.95 is not a lot of money by any means, it is definitely a lot to those who are trying to make their first few dollars by blogging and I know many wouldn’t want to go another $17 in the hole. This book is a good read, but for those who are looking to start earning their first few bucks online, it won’t help you make any more money anytime soon.

If anyone else has read it, feel free to voice your opinion in the comments.

  2. Hey Colin, this is a bit off-topic —but they just did a Google Page Rank Update that I can personally verify. My main web page jumped to PR 4 (after being stuck on PR 3 for nearly one year).

  4. This is a great book to have if you are trying to take your blog to the next level. most of the people in this book have became millionaires from blogging, so I suggest that you listen to them.

  6. Hey Collin, thanks for a review that is actually honest. Most reviews that I read are always saying how great a product is and that you definitely need to buy it. It’s nice to see one that says it’s good for some but not all may need it.
