Here is a little freebie website marketing technique that I thought I would post. If you promote your website properly on a forum, and I don’t mean just by your signature, you can get a lot of quality targeted traffic for free. Here is a case study that I did recently:

You don’t see Google giving out many link building tips of their own, but that is indeed where this little information nugget came from. Matt Cutts from Google has a post about how Google Webmaster Tools shows your incoming 404 pages (people who link to a page on your site that doesn’t exist, such as CollinLaHay.com/boogers58125/), and how Google Webmaster Tools will show you which pages are sending these links, so you can contact them to quickly fix the link.

After talking about Zillow and ActiveRain, I have found another quick link for those in the real estate niche. The site is called Trulia. Trulia is a real estate search engine that shows listings, maps, comps, and more all in one place. It lists thousands of real estate professionals in a social network like format. The site allows for people to look for new house listings in their area.

Directories are websites which list dozens of different categories and have dozens of inner-categories inside these. At the very bottom level of these categories they list websites that are related to them, and allow webmasters to add their websites to the directory. Directories have lost a lot of value over the years, but since there are over 1000 that provide a dofollow backlink to your website, they certainly shouldn’t be overlooked. The biggest pain with directories is that it would take many hours to manually submit your website to 1000+ directories, and that would only benefit one site. That is why I generally use to outsource this task to people in different countries who have the patience to do data entry work for 12 hours a day, 5 days a week.

So it has been forever since I made a post just stating the changes I have made within my blog, part of the reason being that I was procrastinating on cleaning up my blog for a long time. Well, I have finally tied myself down this week and have done a lot of theme changes, cleaning up a lot of broken things, and have ultimately gotten rid of the useless things I had running on my blog.

Blog Changes

  1. Removed my advertise page
  2. Removed the 125×125 advertisements from my sidebar
  3. Removed the “Categories” from the sidebar

Link Building Expert Tip

Here is an excellent “ten minutes or less” link building tip. Earlier this week when I was browsing a lot of SEO and link building blogs/forums, I found a very good idea to get some easy dofollow links.

The idea is that over time, many bloggers and webmasters will talk about your site, and you will inevitably run into a few who mention a blog post of yours, or your homepage URL, but forget to make it an active hyperlink.
