Link Building with GooglePlus

If you have been reading any news/tech/startup blog for the past 9 days, you will have already heard about GooglePlus, the new social network that Google is integrating into all of their services. If you haven’t heard about it yet, I would recommend looking it up before returning to this post as I will not be getting into details that the majority of readers have already seen about twenty times over.

I have been lucky enough to have been invited to GooglePlus the day the beta-invites launched on June 28th and have been playing around with the system every day since. One thing I can surely conclude is that Google has invested way too much time and resources into making this a successful addition to their search engine services.

While it will take a (very) long time to get anywhere near the scale of Facebook, it is already clear that Google will be using more personal data to implement into their search engine, just as they did when Twitter exploded in growth. GooglePlus will allow Google to have greater focus on local search engine optimization because they will know where you are located, so it will show more relevant local results if people in your local circles are mentioning certain companies. In addition, all of your photos that you deem “public to everyone” will allow Google the opportunity to instantly add them to Google Image results, further promoting your GooglePlus page, which trickles down to your website.

Long story short, SEOMoz wrote a great article on how GooglePlus and Twitter alone can cause very fast indexing, almost to the effect of standard link building. In addition, they argued that the social links from your Twitter and GooglePlus can influence positive movement in the search engine results.

What does this mean for us? Getting on GooglePlus while it is still growing is a must, as it is one more “future SEO” strategy that can increase your search engine optimization and link building efforts with faster indexing, more traffic, and improved rankings.

In addition, Google has also rolled out the Google +1 buttons (you will notice them on this post if you visit the website) which are already integrated into search engine rankings as well as analytics (visible via webmaster tools). Getting into the GooglePlus social game before it becomes fully integrated and popular can give you a good head-start into the future of Google rankings and SEO in general.

Free GooglePlus Invites
I realize that after this post a majority of you still do not have GooglePlus invites or know people already inside the beta, so if you want to get a free invite just hit the Google+1 button on this post and then reply in the comments or use the contact form at the top with your name and email and I will send you an invite.

Feel free to add me to your circles as well:

  44. There’s too much hype about Google+ but for those who already have accounts, do you have better experience when it comes to communication with your friends inside the circles? Have you enjoyed tagging, mentioning, and liking?
