Link Building with SoapBlox
Full disclosure: This post topic is pretty dirty, almost considered blackhat. The idea for this post was from a friend who wished to remain anonymous, but was purely looking for me to give him some slightly higher converting google queries to find the sites. He gave me permission to post this on the blog.
With all that being said, let us begin dissecting this software. Soapblox is a blogging platform much like WordPress but more comment and community focused. The simplest way to know what it is would be to imagine having your WordPress install include about 10 different plugins on your site automatically at startup, including nestled/threaded comments and user profile accounts, a long with signatures and more.
Every site allows user registration and commenting on news posts, much like any other blog on the internet. The difference is that a few allow you to create your own “diary” (think blog post), that allows you to post any HTML you want, including dofollow anchor text links inside paragraphs of your relevant content.
Now every site has the obvious “powered by soapblox” in their footer which allows you to find all 300,000ish results that come with it. The problem is that a majority were attacked last year when a hacker found a problem with the source code and abused a bunch of the sites. After the fix came out, the webmasters were a lot more protective of their sites and disabled users from adding their own diaries, and kept the news postings to a select few members.
The trick today is we want to increase our chances of finding the sites that allow you to either:
1.) Create your own “diary” with your own content and links inside it, or
2.) Make a profile with an HTML signature that we can use to comment on posts
While there is no “easy” fix for splitting up the good sites and the bad ones, there are some places to start with to find the better results.
The URL for logged-in users to create their own diaries is called newDiary.do, so one Google search that has decent margins of success is:
inurl:newdiary.do
Unfortunately, not a lot of results come up for this term since the majority of these pages are for logged-in users only, and therefor Google does not index them.
So that leaves us back at square one with the default search term, “Powered By SoapBlox,” However there is one other search term that I see a lot of the sites contain that allow new diaries from public users to be posted, and that is on the left or ride navigation bar they have the text “recent diaries,” so that is one thing that can significantly lower your time spent registering on false-positive sites that do not allow links.
Google search:
“powered by soapblox” intext:”recent diaries”
After using this google footprint, you can look on the navigation column and find the “recent diaries” section and see if the last 10 posts are from many different users, or only one. If it has only one submitter, chances are public posting is disabled so move on to the next site. This can significantly decrease the time you spend looking for links to publish on Soapblox powered websites.
** I am sure there are a few other good footprints, so if you find any useful ones feel free to add them in the comments **
