Link Building with SXC

If you’ve ever needed images for a website or project, you may be familiar with the free stock photo website SXC.hu. The site is popular with many webmasters because of its 350,000 royalty-free photos, but it has a lot more to offer than great pictures: high PageRank backlinks.

Using SXC’s blog feature, you can get a number of dofollow anchor links to your site. Each blog post is made up of a title, a lead, and a body. The lead of each post is displayed on your profile page, so this is where you want to place the links. SXC profiles can range in rank from PR3 to PR6.

For an example, take a look at my profile page here. At the bottom, you can see where the links will end up. Because I have posted several photos and commented on numerous other images, my profile is PR5. I recommend commenting on other users’ pictures and submitting any good quality photos you have. This will increase the number of internal links to your profile. SXC is a very authoritative site so if you promote yourself internally, there should be no need to build external links to your user page.

Here are a few tips:

After registering, go to “My Account / Blog.” You must preview your post before publishing.
Use the code [url='site.com']anchor text[/url] for links. Remember, they must be in the lead section in order to appear on the high-PageRank profile page.
Your profile page will show your latest three posts only. Plan accordingly.
Your blog has a page, too. So you really get two links
Be careful not to check “Recommend for front page” accidentally.
You can go back and edit posts later to change a link.

On a final note, you can also post URL links in photo comments by simply copying and pasting the link. While it won’t have an anchor, the link will pass PageRank and is a good way to get a page indexed. One thing I like to do is use SXC images for my blog posts, go back to the photo, and post a thank-you comment with a link to my content. SXC photographers (myself included) love to know where their work is being used.

Link Building with InfoBarrel

Just like Hubpages, A website called Infobarrel is a good site to build backlinks to your blog. This is because InfoBarrel has a pagerank of 4 and is well perceived by Google. Infobarrel allows only unique and quality articles on the site. Before your post goes live, the post has to be approved by a moderator. This is to make sure that your post is unique and properly written. The approval process is short. It is usually done within 24 hours. From my point of view, this is good to keep the quality of the site. You are allowed only 2 links within the post to another domain. But there is no limit to you linking to other Infobarrel articles. It is from this allowed 2 links that you use to build link to your blog. You need to use your anchor text to build the link, and not the URL. Your articles can also be edited by other members. I believe this is to get rid of anything in the articles that doesn’t meet the requirements and the moderators missed it during the approval process.

Infobarrel is another revenue site i.e it pays you from the revenue it generates from adsense from your article. In terms of adsense earning, I can say that it is better than Hubpages because you get more percentage of the adsense earning. Infobarrel gives the author of the article 75% of the adsense revenue, while Hubpages gives the author 40%. But in terms of affiliate marketing, Hubpages is better. It is better because you are allowed to put eBay and/or amazon products in your post using your affiliate id of both sites. You are also allowed to show Kontera inline ads on your Hubpages.

Unless you have an established domain, it is better writing articles for Infobarrel. It is easier for your article at Infobarrel to have a better SERP than if the article is on your blog. Remember, Google has already recognized the site to be an authority site, so therefore any article on the domain is indexed and will rank faster.

Optimize Conversions with Club Web Video University

My assumption is most of you are the do-it-yourself type and want results. I too, share these characteristics. That is why today I’m going to stray from writing about link building and instead write about something just as important, and that is on-site conversions. It is easy to obsess over links and promoting your site via new media/social media, but once you start to receive traffic, you should focus on converting also.

Over the course of the last few years I’ve been able to build a successful online investment real estate brokerage by reading blogs like this one, but my sales EXPLODED once I took the time to focus on conversions. My #1 conversion trick? WEB VIDEO! Let me explain…..

During the 4th quarter of 2008, when all hell was breaking loose in the financial world and everybody was wondering if we should stock up on canned goods, my company was able to make $21.6 million in real estate sales. I attribute 80% of this success to web video. We already had our list, we already had the traffic, but the video made the phone dance. This video was accompanied by a landing page, but for the sake of this post I’ll just show you the video.

This video helped my company make a few hundred thousand dollars in commission, and get this, before this video, I had never made a video whatsoever in my life. I had zero experience with writing a script, video editing, using video players, etc. To top it off, I was working with a limited budget. I didn’t have 5-10k to throw at it like some would assume after watching it.

How did I do it? Two weeks before I had to get this video done I stumbled across Dave Kaminski’s Club Web Video University. After watching his stellar videos and hearing his promise that I could make awesome videos too, I signed up. I was blown away by how simple Dave made everything for me. This guy is a full blown expert. He boiled down the best things to do when it comes to writing a script, what software to use, step by step software instruction, lighting, and even creating custom music for your video. He also gives free hosting, software that will encode your videos at the highest quality flash, and free video players.

I’ll admit my video could have been done much better, but I can’t complain with the results. Since I made this video I’ve been able to really delve into Club WVU and sharpen my skills. Bottom line, Web Video is the present and you can make a killing if you convert your traffic.
